Six years ago today, I came home from the hospital for good after suffering a spinal cord injury in a hockey game. I spent four months living there relearning how to do the most basic things and trying to figure out what life would look like after that.
In the beginning I had to rely on my parents and nurses for pretty much everything and that was hard for me to accept.
Looking back now it’s kind of crazy to see how far things have come. I live on my own, I support myself, and I’ve built a life that honestly feels better than anything I could have imagined back then. It didn’t happen overnight and it definitely wasn’t easy.
My family carried me through the hardest parts. They showed up every single day and never made me feel like I was too much. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
And to everyone, creating content gave me a purpose. I was always kind of shy and never would’ve thought my story would reach millions of people. So thank you for helping me live my dream.
I feel real...
