A vibrant new space for undergraduate education will welcome students this fall at UC Berkeley. Featuring 25 general assignment classrooms and a larger 108-person classroom, as well as a state-of-the-art 400-seat auditorium, the building will be a hub for students — hosting 10% of the general assignment classrooms on campus. Those without classes or meetings can take advantage of its expansive terrace overlooking Strawberry Creek and Grinnell Glade, complete with benches, picnic tables, and charging outlets. “Every detail of this space was designed to invite connection and engagement,” said Oliver O’Reilly, UC Berkeley’s vice provost for undergraduate education. “This building represents a lasting investment in the heart of the Berkeley undergraduate journey.” The Undergraduate Academic Building is among several major campus developments this fall, including the opening of the Barbara and Gerson Bakar Gateway, home to berkeleycdss, and a new eight-level, 660-space parking garage fo...
