Meet the Strauch Hypercube, a 3D floating lightwork in conversation with itself at berkeley_engineering's Grimes Engineering Center. Unlike static artwork, the Hypercube is generative — merging visual coding, data integration and procedural generation to create an infinite supply of visual patterns that never repeat. When designer Susan Narduli first met donor Roger Strauch — who with his brother, Hans, funded the installation in honor of their father, Karl — he described how he imagined a dynamic artwork filling the volume of the space.
