Christian metal band Demon Hunters is suing Netflix over the name of its massively successful musical movie, 'Kpop Demon Hunters.'
In a case filed Tuesday (Aug. 18) in Los Angeles federal court, the rock band said the animated film has drowned out any recognition of their longtime name. 'Kpop Demon Hunters' quickly became an Oscar-winning pop culture phenomenon, with its soundtrack spending two weeks at No. 1 on the
#Billboard200. Over a 25-year career, Demon Hunter has had its own fair share of success — reaching No. 16 on the Billboard 200 and having placed eight different records within the top three of the Top Christian Albums chart.
“Defendants are massive corporations with millions of dollars to pour into their own brand development … consumers are likely to mistakenly believe that defendants are actually the senior user,” the band’s lawyers write.
