Former pro boxer Prichard Colón passed away on Thursday, August 13 at 33 years old in Orlando, Florida. His father Richard shared in a Facebook post that “he is in a better world.” The Puerto Rican pro boxer was one of the island’s champions, undefeated in 16 fights, before he suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2015 during a fight with Terrel Williams. After the fight, he was in a coma for 221 days and was left unable to walk or talk for the rest of his life. His story pushed the WBC to implement stricter safety regulations and medical protocols, and in 2021, he was named an honorary WBC World Champion. Though he was never the same after the fight, he remained loved by Puerto Rican fans until his recent death. Bad Bunny even honored him in a letter sent to “El Nuevo Día,” writing: “Another Puerto Rican who represented us and made us proud. I never stopped supporting him, I never lost faith in him.” #PrichardColon #WBC #PuertoRico #HLOG
