As the name might suggest, if the S1 LM was a tribute to the McLaren F1 GTR racer, the S1 is a tribute to McLaren’s beloved road car, the F1. The platform under this new car is pulled from the S1 LM, though Murray and Co. have done quite a bit of work to make it a more street-worthy machine. The bodywork is completely bespoke, with only the roof shared with the LM. Some of the design elements are inspired by the original McLaren F1 Monaco Show Car from 1995, including the lamps in the front bumper and the wheels. All of the overt aero bits have been removed and replaced by new active elements, giving the car a much more pure aesthetic than the track-oriented machine.
