#ObieTrice’s “SECOND ROUND’S ON ME” dropped 20 years ago today 🍻 This sophomore album hit on August 15, 2006 and it remains one of the most solid and underrated projects from the Shady Records roster. Produced primarily by #Eminem, with contributions from J.R. Rotem, Akon, Emile, Swinga, and others, the album delivered hard-hitting, polished production that matched Obie’s sharp, street-ready lyricism. The beats carried that classic mid-2000s Shady sound. Gritty drums, melodic hooks, and cinematic touches all while still letting Obie’s storytelling and Detroit grit shine through. From the lead single “Snitch” (feat. Akon) and the reflective “Cry Now,” to tracks like “Jamaican Girl,” “Everywhere I Go” (feat. 50 Cent), and “All of My Life” (feat. Nate Dogg), the production stayed locked in and consistent.
