Thinking about Alex makes me want to giggle like a little boy, work my ass off, and ugly cry happy tears. And it’s for the same reason: she makes life fun and fulfilling. We’ve known each other for 13 years, been together 10 of them. There’s so much that I’ve had the fortune to learn and experience with her. I wouldn’t have made it through this last year in particular without her. But at every point, she’s been there for me in ways I can’t fathom asking of another person. She’s fiercely loyal and shows her care with actions. Receiving that is a blessing when my mind often doesn’t think I’m worthy of that type of care. Birthdays and other milestones feel different over time when you have good company. Celebrating her is only difficult because I have too many examples of what makes my wife my best, closest friend, and an overall good person. That’s a great feeling and such a privilege.
