The 103rd CIF State Track and Field Championships at Buchanan High’s Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, California definitely did not disappoint this past weekend! We saw some unbelievable individual & team performances! Let’s talk about it👇 1️⃣ Sadie Engelhardt of Ventura became the first female athlete in California history to win both 800m & 1600m titles in the same year. The sophomore sensation dropped a 4:33.45 clocking in the 1600m to break Christine Babcock’s previous meet record of 4:33.82 from 2008. In the 800m, Sadie outkicked last year’s CIF champion Mackenzie Browne to win by less than a second, crossing the line in a swift 2:07.22. 2️⃣ Rodrick Pleasant out of Garden Serra High stormed to a dominant 100m & 200m double for the second year in a row, a feat that hasn’t been done since Khalfani Muhammed’s efforts back in 2012 & 2013.
