For a shoot inspired by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger's 1948 film 'The Red Shoes,' Martinez finds a fitting mirror in its tale of a creative who lives—and would die— for her art. The parallels are clear for an artist who has spent more than a decade building worlds and surrendering herself completely to each one.
