Before I head to lansing_shuffle to celebrate #517Day, I want to highlight what I love about Lansing. Although Detroit is and will always be my first home, once I graduated high school, as was on my way to Michigan State University (michiganstateu), there was no turning back; my room was gone the night before I left. Leaving home at the age of 17 meant that Lansing (and East Lansing) raised me. Since making a home in Lansing, for the most part, this is where I've been. I randomly took off to Houston in 2017 from feeling trapped and stagnant, but things weren't clicking as quickly as I'd hoped there. At first, I wasn't planning on returning to Michigan, but being away made me realize that I needed to do some inner work to be happy wherever I was. I finally decided to head back in 2020, thinking Detroit was the spot, but unknown to me at the time, I ended up back in Lansing instead.
