The 18 year old disappeared during a Fourth of July boat trip to Mississippi's Horn Island and was found dead two days later. An independent autopsy left his cause of death undetermined, and questions remain about inconsistencies in his friends' accounts and why his phone wasn't found with him.
Members of Congress are now demanding a federal review. NAACP President Derrick Johnson put it plainly: the deaths of young Black people are too often dismissed unless we demand answers.
