Brad Little keeps asking Idahoans to trust him. But trust is earned.
Over the last eight years, we have watched his administration push decisions that affect our schools, healthcare, public lands, taxes, and now nuclear policy, then explain away the consequences when Idahoans start asking hard questions.
Brad Little wants Idaho to accept out-of-state used nuclear fuel, spent nuclear fuel, and high-level radioactive waste, and Idahoans are once again being told about jobs, investment, and opportunity.
But the promises are doing a lot more work than the guarantees. There is still no reason Idahoans should blindly assume that every promise from Washington will materialize exactly as advertised.
And if we are talking about a project this massive, the standard should be higher than “trust Brad.” This is about generations of responsibility. It is about whether Idaho is once again being asked to carry the risk while politicians get the ribbon cutting.
