Hold the dots and scroll to switch between Hubble and Roman’s vision. 👀
Â
Later this month, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will launch to begin surveying the cosmos. Here, you’re looking at a mock comparison of NASAHubble vs. Roman’s field of view.
Â
The Roman Space Telescope’s main superpower is its wide vision. At over 100 times the size of Hubble’s vision but with the same crisp clarity, Roman can capture sweeping views of the universe with each picture.
Â
How does Roman’s uniquely large perspective come in handy? The universe is so vast that finding targets of study can be like searching for a needle in a big, cosmic haystack. Roman’s ultra-wide vision will help scientists pinpoint these needles, or new objects of scientific interest. Then, our other space telescopes can study those targets in-depth. Teamwork!
