Celebrating Black History with BPC | 2021 Juneteenth OWN YOUR VOICE In honor of Juneteenth 2021, MLS consulted and partnered with BPC to celebrate for the first time in Soccer history a now Federal holiday that signifies the day the last slaves were freed. Ray Gaddis ray_gaddis reached out to artist Isarael Solomon israelsoloart to ask if he could join the project. Solomon began doing further research into Juneteenth artwork and set a call to connect and speak with BPC leadership. On the call leadership spoke to the idea of “ownership.” It resonated with Solomon and was introduced in the form of a message that stands above the Solidarity Demonstration illustrated on the box. A message that has been carried on beyond Juneteenth: Own your voice. BPC’s creation and connection to the holiday lead to the creation and messaging of Celebrate Freedom on the game-worn jerseys for each team.
