In the top of the first inning of the Hillsboro Hops hosting the Eugene Emeralds at Hillsboro Hops Ballpark on Wednesday, it looked like the wheels were going to quickly fall off the wagon as the Emeralds loaded the bases with their first three batters. With no room for error, starting pitcher Patrick Forbes zeroed in to strike out the following three at bat to get out of the high pressure jam. The game remained scoreless until the dam broke with a surge of runs in the fifth inning. The Emeralds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the inning, only to have the Hops equalize in the bottom half with three runs of their own with J.D. Dix leading off with a solo dinger to right field and Kenny Castillo hitting a two run homer in the same direction. The Hops edged ahead in the sixth when Yassel Soler singled to left field brining home Kayson Cunningham for a run.
