Another Boston favorite with my two favorite goons! Castle Island is one of those places I always love taking the dogs to. Fun fact - despite the name, it hasn’t actually been an island since the 1920s! It’s actually connected to South Boston and is home to Fort Independence, one of the oldest continuously fortified sites in the country. The current granite fort dates back to the 1800s, but Boston Harbor has been defended from this spot since the 1600s. Today, it’s one of the best places in the city for a waterfront walk, harbor views, a little plane spotting and, of course, it’s a great place to explore with the dogs. Pro tip: Grab a bite to eat from Sullivan’s, find a shady spot alongside the fort, and watch the planes land and take off from Logan. You get an AMAZING view of them coming across the harbor.
