A tornado in Atlantic Beach, an evening commute amid heavy rain and concertgoers searching for safe shelter — all results of an early evening rainstorm Thursday across Long Island. Nassau was under a state of emergency due to the storm and had mobilized its emergency operation center, said County Executive Bruce Blakeman.
