August 20, 2026 The Georgia Bulldogs made history on Thursday night, setting a new NCAA Division I soccer attendance record with 25,433 fans packing Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium for a 6-0 rout of James Madison. The crowd shattered the previous women's record of 14,410 set in 1999 and eclipsed the men's mark of 22,512 that had stood since 1980, as Keidane McAlpine's squad delivered a dominant performance worthy of the occasion in its first victory of the season. Sophomore forward Mya Townes got the party started in the 8th minute, slotting a left-footed finish past the James Madison goalkeeper against her parents' alma mater. Senior midfielder Honoka Hamano doubled the lead in the 22nd minute off an assist from Emma Pettersen, and sophomore forward Ava Stack made it 3-0 in the 34th to send the Bulldogs into halftime firmly in control.
