Kent State struck first, with junior Jules Donlinski scoring her first goal of the season in the seventh minute off a set piece that ran through freshman Clara Monck and junior Allison Collins before finding Donlinski open in front of goal. The Flashes held that lead for 22 minutes before Kentucky equalized in the 29th minute, making it 1-1, a score that held through the rest of the first half. Kentucky took over from there, scoring four goals in a span of just 31 minutes late in the second half to blow the game open.
