South Carolina opened its 2026 season with a 2 to 0 win over visiting Oregon State, holding off a feisty Beavers side that fought for the full 90 minutes in front of the Gamecocks' home crowd.
South Carolina came out firing, putting together an early surge of chances that tested the Oregon State back line right from the opening whistle. The Beavers weathered that initial storm and managed to keep the Gamecocks off the board through the first half, even earning back-to-back corner kicks of their own in the 28th minute as they settled into the match. Oregon State was forced into a change in net in the 31st minute when starting goalkeeper Ally Larkin went down with an injury and was replaced by Alexi Morgan.
Despite the early defensive resistance, South Carolina broke through to find the two goals it needed, closing out the shutout win to start the season 1- 0. It was a game with an extra storyline for Oregon...
