On this day in wrestling history, August 21, 2000. Lita beat Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley for the WWF Women’s Championship in the main event of Raw is War. It was the first time a women’s match main evented the show. Raw that night took place at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Rock served as special guest referee, with Triple H and Kurt Angle interfering throughout. The Rock took out Angle and Triple H and hit a spinebuster on McMahon-Helmsley, allowing Lita to land the moonsault for the win. It was the first of Lita’s four Women’s Championships.
