Road Dogg says AEW turned him away because of his political beliefs. James posted under a Dave Meltzer X post discussing the idea of Brian James coming to AEW. When a fan told James, "if you really want a job in AEW, this ain't it dawg," James replied that he was "turned away because of my political/core beliefs." He also said, "I didn’t donate to or vote for Trump, BUT his old man did, why was I punished ?" James also accused journalist David Bixenspan of screenshotting a social media post about his conservative views and using it to get him canceled. Bixenspan denied the accusation, writing, "I've barely reported on wrestling the last 3 years at all," and said the only reporting he had seen on James involved talks with AEW. James left WWE in March, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported last month that his talks with TNA had stalled. There has been no credible reporting regarding talks between James and TNA.
