The Florida-based artist Alaura Allen recently gifted her original watercolors featuring Black horsemen of the late 19th century to Keeneland Library. Several of the pieces were inspired by images in the Library’s collections that represent the world’s most comprehensive photographic holdings of African Americans in the sport in the late 1800s.
