I was very lucky to have a home PC in the 90s when I learned to type, use the Internet and use Word documents and play educational games. Others weren't so lucky. Access to computers and internet have life-long disparities in #computerliteracy and #computerscience majors. In the 90s, when computer access was taking off, African Americans had less access to computers and Internet than whites. Having a computer in the home conferred benefits in #computerliteracy and #academicperformance.
