As their final project in DF 4300: CNC Subtractive Manufacturing, Vanderbilt students Rebecca Hurwitz, Connor Waterman and Daniel Xu designed and manufactured a fully playable guitar in the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering's Digital Fabrication Lab. Under the guidance of Assistant Professor David Florian, the students teamed up with Music City luthiers Josh Hurst and Gustavo Rodrigues of Guitar Build Workshop, who donated their time and supplies and lent their expertise in painting, assembly and stringing. The students fabricated all of the instrument’s components themselves, down to a custom guitar pick and knobs engraved with tiny Vanderbilt Vs.
