Bloomington city councilmember Sydney Zulich announced her campaign to run for mayor of Bloomington on Saturday, basing her platform on affordability, city investment and keeping Bloomington business local.
“We’re in a spiral of corporatizing our city and hiring out-of-town consultants to solve our problems,” Zulich said in a Saturday press release. “We need to use our community’s creativity, talent and grit for in-house solutions that keep our dollars in Bloomington.”
As a Council District 6 representative, the majority of Zulich’s constituency includes Indiana University students. After graduating from IU in 2023, Zulich, a Democrat, became the youngest person ever elected to Bloomington City Council at 21 years old.
