Drone footage posted Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, by the Paradise, Hagen and Horse Ridge Fire Incident Management Team shows the Paradise and Hagen fires from above during flights earlier this month in the Umatilla National Forest east of Pendleton, Ore. Officials did not identify which fire is shown in individual clips. The footage was captured by a U.S. Forest Service Unmanned Aircraft System module, a crew of drone pilots and data specialists who use drones for thermal imaging, hot-spot detection, perimeter mapping and other real-time intelligence. Lightning started both fires July 16, and both continue to grow. As of Aug. 20, 2026, the Hagen fire has burned 58,153 acres and is 19 percent contained, while the Paradise fire has burned 6,129 acres and remains 0 percent contained.
