Casey's name is not only on Iowa's largest arena in Des Moines but will also be on the new ice rink coming to the MidAmerican Energy Co. RecPlex in West Des Moines. Ankeny-based Casey's committed $1 million to support the RecPlex's new expansion. In exchange, Casey's will receive naming rights to the third ice sheet that is part of the event center planned to open in fall 2027, the city announced Monday, Aug. 17 in a news release. The new multipurpose arena and event center with Casey's Ice Rink is currently under construction. The arena will have seats for about 3,000 spectators and will serve hockey, figure skating, tournaments, concerts, conventions, community events and other large gatherings, according to the release.
