It’s not everyday that the organization behind the pin you’ve been wearing on your apron for over 20 years visits and joins you for a video in the print shop! One of the most prominent pins on Howard’s apron is the logo for California Grown, which is California’s agricultural marketing program and connects people with the farmers, ranchers, and farmworkers who produce our food in the Golden State. We had to get out our largest wood type for this occasion! In this video K.C. and Howard letterpress printed “CA GROWN” in 30 line pica (5 inches tall) wood type in the French Clarendon typeface. This wood type was made in the late 1880s. This was printed with blue rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was manufactured in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #CAGROWN #blue #museumtok #printing
