This is one of those developments that could look much bigger in hindsight. Merck and Moderna have announced positive Phase 3 results for intismeran, an individualized mRNA cancer therapy created specifically from the unique genetic mutations found inside a patient’s tumor. The global trial included 1,137 patients with stage IIB through IV melanoma whose tumors had been completely removed. Patients receiving intismeran plus Keytruda experienced statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements in both recurrence free survival and distant metastasis free survival compared with Keytruda alone.
