OpenAI has officially launched ChatGPT for Teens. The new experience is designed specifically for users ages 13 to 17 and adds stronger safeguards around self harm, graphic violence, eating disorders, sexual content, and other sensitive areas. Parents also get additional controls, while the AI itself is being designed to encourage deeper learning and critical thinking rather than simply giving students the finished answer. But the larger story here goes beyond teen safety. For most of the internet era, everyone entered essentially the same digital environment. AI changes that. An intelligent interface can increasingly adjust its boundaries, behavior, teaching style, and capabilities according to the person using it. ChatGPT for Teens may be an early glimpse of something much larger: an internet that becomes increasingly personalized not just around our interests, but around our age, context, and stage of development.
