The Moonlight Howl and Run, which began in 2015 with about 3,000 people in attendance, has now grown to host nearly 8,000 people. Due to the increasing attendance and construction around campus, Shannon DuPree, director of wellness for University Wellness and Recreation, said a change to the event was necessary.
“As participation continued to grow with about 8,000 attendees, it became difficult to run through campus because of construction, because of the size of the crowd,” DuPree said. “So rather than scale the event down, we just decided to pivot and reimagine what it could be.”
“We’ve prepared this 30-minute demo where we will have some of our Wellness and Recreation group fitness instructors as well as … The District Dance Collective, and they’re going to lead some really simple guided movement to show students that you can move your body in a fun, simple way and still be impactful,” DuPree said.
