“But I’m eating so little… why am I still not losing weight?” I hear this ALL the time. And very often, when we actually look at what is going into the day, the problem isn’t the obvious food. It’s the little things we don’t really count. Your black coffee becomes coffee with ice cream, syrups, or milk and sugar. Your plain toast becomes toast with butter, avocado, or nut butters. The amount of oil we add to our tadka & to our cooking also unknowingly sneaks in a lot of calories. And then there are the salad dressings, sauces, handfuls of nuts, “just one bite” here and there… None of these feels like a big deal. But these unknown and unaccounted calories can add up and make the difference between being in a calorie deficit and simply maintaining your weight. This is especially common when you’re trying to lose weight and thinking: “I’m eating healthy. I’m being careful. I’m exercising.
