The U.S. investigating if Iranian hackers were behind cyberattacks on U.S. water systems in at least a dozen states, sources say. Some utilities have reported losing critical remote-control capabilities, forcing operators to switch to manual mode. In several cases, the hackers gained remote access to pumps, valves and water pressure. Water safety has not been impacted. In 2025, retired Gen. Tim Haugh warned 60 Minutes about the threat foreign hackers pose to America’s critical infrastructure, including water systems. Multiple intrusions at utilities were discovered in 2023. And China had been on some of their computer networks at least five years. #hacking #cyberattack
