🇺🇸 AN ALL-VETERAN SEARCH CREW. Saturday was a damn good day in the desert. We ran two teams, and somehow I ended up with an all-veteran crew. And except for me, they were all women — including one currently serving on active duty. It was faux king awesome! They showed up. They hiked strong. They understood the mission. They didn't need to be pushed or babysat. They just put their covers (hats) on, held their heads high, and covered ground. By the time we finished, temperatures were well into the 90s. We put in good miles in hard country, and I'm incredibly grateful for every one of them. And I'm grateful for every volunteer — veteran and civilian — who continues to show up for this work. ❤️ But I would absolutely love to see more veterans out here with us!
