Day 1 in Sicily, we drove west and stayed in the beautiful town of Marsala, best known for the fortified wine that originated here. 🍷
From Marsala, we headed to Erice, a charming medieval hilltop town. We took the cable car up from Trapani, and the views on the way were absolutely beautiful. 🚠
Erice is small and very walkable. We spent about 2-3 hours strolling through the cobblestone streets, exploring little corners, shops and viewpoints — which felt like the perfect amount of time.
Of course, we had to try our first granita of the trip! 😋 Unfortunately, this one wasn’t our favorite… so stay tuned for my Sicily granita reviews.
We also stopped at Pasticceria Maria Grammatico, one of the most famous and historic pastry shops in Erice, established in 1964. 🍰
