Born in Las Vegas in 1992, he was on a T-ball field at three years old, facing pitchers twice his age. His dad, a steelworker, pitched him sunflower seeds and bottle caps just to sharpen his eye. By twelve, he was suiting up for the SO Cal Redwings, USSSA baseball. Still in high school, he hit a ball 502 feet with a metal bat. Further than anyone, pro or amateur, had ever hit one in that stadium. That's Bryce Harper. At sixteen, Sports Illustrated called him Baseball's Chosen One. At seventeen, the third youngest player ever picked first overall in the MLB Draft. Long before any of it, he was just a kid on a USSSA field, chasing the same dream a lot of kids out there are chasing right now. Who's the future big leaguer on your team?
