College football is CRAZY right now đ
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said he believes allowing players to return after declaring for the NFL Draft is âunfair to the sportâ and to current college players who have spent the offseason earning their roster spots. With college football now operating under roster limits, Lanning also pointed out that adding a returning player could mean someone already on the team loses his spot. (Fox Newsâ ïżŒ)
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day took a different approach, saying he doesnât like the situation but acknowledged the Buckeyes may have to consider adding players coming back from NFL rosters if competing programs do the same.
The debate comes as former Ole Miss tight end DaeâQuan Wright was waived by the Cleveland Browns and has an agreement in place to play for LSU in 2026 if he clears NFL waivers. Wright entered the transfer portal after signing NFL contracts this offseason, amid ongoing court challenges to NCAA eligibility rules. (ESPNâ ïżŒ)
