Diesel is about N$21 a litre in Namibia. Across the border in Angola it is about N$8. Same fuel, 60% cheaper. You cannot build a business on that gap. The Angolan price is not a market price, it is a subsidy, roughly 4% of Angola's entire GDP spent holding the pump down. The moment that fuel leaves as a real commercial sale, the government stops paying and the discount is gone. You cannot import a subsidy. It is like buying subsidised medicine at a state hospital for N$10 and reselling it at pharmacy prices across the border. The margin was never yours. And the window is closing anyway. Angola has been stripping the subsidy since 2023 under IMF pressure. In 2025 the protests turned deadly, more than 30 people killed. Cheap fuel is not a gift. It is a bill. #GlobalArbitrage #Namibia #Angola #FuelSubsidy #Africa
