There’s something especially powerful about a bird-friendly design that tells the story of the birds it helps protect. This new mural at the Rix Building at the bamfieldmsc was designed by artist vanessa.hum and features bird species that have been documented following window collisions on the Bamfield campus. By incorporating bird-friendly visual markers into the artwork, the mural helps make the glass more visible to birds while celebrating the incredible diversity of local birdlife. The project was made possible with funding from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), and a special thank you to Krista De Groot for helping bring this project to life and for her dedication to advancing bird-friendly conservation.
