Here at East Orange Rec, we pride ourselves on being more than just sports. We are committed to providing quality programming and coaching for all of our programs. Today we salute Coach Asante Ward and his dedication to his 8th Grade boys basketball travel team. Before each practice, the young men read and submit a journal entry including vocabulary words and definitions. Coach Ward also requires reading time prior to pregame warmup. This season’s book is “The Power of Discipline” by Daniel Walter. We are honored to have a coach whose dedication and commitment to his team goes beyond the court. Understanding that athleticism requires discipline is paramount. And what better way to express that than to challenge our future athletes by implementing a routine such as reading.
