Bollywood megastar Priyanka Chopra Jonas has attended the US premiere of a new film, The Cycle of Love, which she has executive produced. The film tells the true-life story of a street artist from the marginalised Dalit caste, who cycled 6,000 miles from India to Europe to try to reunite with his true love from Sweden. It also exposes the discrimination people can face because of India’s caste system. About 200 million people in India are Dalits, historically known as "untouchables" and placed at the bottom of the caste system. Dalits have faced generations of discrimination and exclusion, and many remain concentrated in some of India’s most poorly paid and stigmatised occupations.
