Human milk contains remarkably little protein, yet it supports the fastest growth period of the human lifespan. A baby triples its birth weight in the first year while human-milk protein contributes only a small proportion of total energy, and protein concentration actually FALLS as lactation progresses. Your body doesn't actually have a requirement for “protein” as a substance. It requires amino acids, the building blocks. More protein doesn't automatically mean more growth.
