OC Transpo is millions in the red‼️😨💰 Ottawa’s Transit system is projected to finish 2026 with a $12.35-million deficit as ridership remains at only 67% of pre-pandemic levels. The service recorded an $8.9-million shortfall during the first six months, driven by lower fare revenue, cancelled trips and rising maintenance and operating costs. The city is still anticipating $47 million from the Ontario government as negotiations continue to transfer the O-Train system to Metrolinx, although the funding has not yet been officially announced.
