This #MuseumMonday, we would like to highlight artist Anders Zorn. He passed 106 years ago, on August 22nd, 1920, leaving behind an empowering cultural legacy. Anders Zorn was a Swedish artist who achieved international recognition as a painter, sculptor, and etcher. His portrait subjects extend to world leaders, such as three American presidents: Grover Cleveland, William H. Taft and Theodore Roosevelt. He also depicted King Oscar II of Sweden. Anders Zorn and Charles Deering met at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago, where Deering became one of Zorn’s key American supporters. Their meeting began a long-term professional and personal connection. Deering served as both patron and friend, even posing for a number of Zorn's artworks, as shown above.
