If your morning stretch feels worse than no stretch at all, there’s a reason and it isn’t you.
Overnight your spinal discs rehydrate. You genuinely wake up a centimetre or two taller than you’ll be tonight. A fully swollen disc doesn’t want to be bent and loaded, which is exactly what a morning toe-touch asks of it. It’s the right idea at the wrong time.
Move first. Stretch later. Circulation before range.
Your first five minutes:
*Cat-cow — 10 slow reps, nowhere near end range
*90/90 hip switches — 8 reps each side
*Bodyweight squat — 10 reps, easy depth
Then go about your morning. Save deep stretching for 30 minutes after you’re up and moving.
Save this and try it tomorrow. 🙌
Sequencing is the thing people get wrong most and it’s instant to fix when someone watches you move.
