Turning a summer challenge into something bigger 💪
Bryce Terry ’29 is a member of Skidmore’s lacrosse and hockey teams and SGA. Outside of campus, he has also spent two summers volunteering in Memorial Hospital’s Oncology Department, where he got to know patients and observed the work of the nurses, doctors, and staff who cared for them.
Those experiences, along with a summer challenge through the skidmorehockey team, led Bryce to create the Beyond the Summit Triathlon as a fundraiser for the department.
The challenge consists of a 1-mile swim, a 52-mile bike ride, and a 5.2-mile hike up Mount Washington, the tallest peak in the Northeast.
Last summer, Bryce completed the challenge solo and raised more than $13,000 for Memorial Hospital’s Oncology Department. This year, six others, including four of his Skidmore hockey teammates, will join him for the Beyond the Summit Triathlon, which takes place later this week.
