Claude is about to ruin copy-paste. Anthropic is adding invisible watermarks to Claude-generated text, plus signed metadata for supported files like images. The writing may look completely normal, but the words can carry a hidden signal that helps detect whether Claude was involved. And people are already asking the obvious questions: if I pay for Claude, do I fully own the output? Why is the watermark invisible? Can it be removed? And if AI companies can watermark what users generate, why wasn’t the internet’s content watermarked before being used to train these models? Some people see this as transparency. Others see it as control. Either way, blindly copy-pasting AI text is about to feel very different. Would you still use Claude if every answer left a fingerprint?
