The football used by Diego Maradona to score his famous ‘Hand of God’ goal at the 1986 World Cup has sold at auction for $3.35million. Maradona punched the ball past England goalkeeper Peter Shilton during Argentina’s 2–1 quarter-final victory. In the same match, he also scored the legendary ‘Goal of the Century’ after dribbling past five England players. The ball sold for less than its expected $10million price, but auction experts described it as one of the most significant items in football history.
